Common questions
More detail on the teaching methodology and the Canadian sources behind every number.
- What is ProfitED?
- ProfitED is a free financial literacy program for Canadian teenagers. It teaches money skills through 15 short interactive lessons plus calculators that can be used with real numbers.
- Is this financial literacy program made for Canadian teens?
- Yes. Every lesson is written for 13–19 year olds in Canada and uses Canadian rules: CPP and EI deductions, T4 slips, CRA filing, TFSAs and RESPs, and Canadian bank accounts.
- What topics do the lessons cover?
- Budgeting for teens, banking and e-transfers, saving for goals, taxes for students and first tax returns, side-hustle income, credit cards and interest, and investing for beginners.
- Is ProfitED free?
- The 15 core lessons, all four interactive tools and progress tracking are free and need no account. ProfitED Plus is an optional paid upgrade with eight advanced lessons, a final assessment and a verifiable certificate.
- Can parents track progress?
- Yes. Parents can build a learning plan, assign lessons in order, and follow completed lessons and checkpoint answers from the parent dashboard once a teen signs in.
- Are the lessons based on real Canadian financial systems?
- They are. Rates, thresholds and deadlines come from Government of Canada and FCAC material, and every figure used in a lesson is listed on the sources page with a corrections policy.
